In stamping, the “fast” and “stable” you see in process animations is not magic—it’s the result of a millisecond-level contest between the die and the sheet metal. On the shop floor, every “snap” of the press is the product of three forces fighting each other: press tonnage, die clearance, and material springback compensation. Take the most common blanking and piercing operation as an example. The recommended die clearance is typically 5% to 10% of the sheet thickness. For a 1.5 mm cold-rolled steel sheet, that means a per-side clearance of 0.075 to 0.15 mm.
